“»Monsters In My Pocket« is a tribute to the monster-plastic-action-figure-pop-culture-world of the late 80s and early 90s. Back then Mara Heuer discovered her love for monsters when she was a young child.
After one year of research and after collecting over 900 monster toys of the decade of her early childhood, Mara Heuer let myself fall into this crazy world of 90s children tv pop culture. Surrounded by cartoons, commercials, movies, comics and action figure toys, I mashed everything up to around 200 collages and created my own wild monster world. This world is mostly very colourful, sometimes a bit darker – more nostalgic or reflective – but always between the endless feeling of fun and the thrilling feeling of a bit of creepiness.”
